Fayose blasts Obasanjo, says he is one of Nigeria major problem

By Ayodele Taiwo, Ado Ekiti

The governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose has described Former president Olusegun Obasanjo as one of the major problem that is facing the development of this country. He castigated the visit of the five governor who went to beg obasanjo to support Jonathan, saying that the visit is unwarranted and uncalled for. He went forward to say that PDP can do well without the former president.
He said PDP as a party must stop condoning indiscipline, saying; “nobody should be treated as being bigger than the party.” He therefore called for immediate suspension  of the former president from the PDP,  said; “A man who has refused to respect the office of the President of Nigeria that he once occupied does not also deserve respect from anyone.”

Speaking further, Fayose said Obasanjo was already a member of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) and that he was pushing for one of his loyalists to  be the party’s Vice presidential candidate. He said; “Obasanjo is a man who can never be pleased.  His principle of life is; if it is not his way, it must not be another person’s way. “Even if President Jonathan gives Obasanjo his blood today, he (Obasanjo) cannot change  because he is already neckdeep in the APC agenda, with his
eyes on the vice presidential ticket of the party.
“Therefore, no amount of visits by PDP governors can make him change his mind about President Jonathan,  whom he hates not because he has not performed, but because he (Jonathan) did not hand over his presidency to him.”

APC Presidential aspirants sign undertaking

www.shadedreflects.blogspot.com

The All Progressive Congress has taken a new dimension in the history of politics in the country as they made all the Presidential aspirants under the umbrella of the party to sign a binding agreement with the leadership of the party that they won't decamp to another political party if they fail to emerge as the party candidate.

Also, by the agreement, the aspirants have accepted to abide by the rules and regulations of the party as it affects the conduct of the presidential primaries.
The extraction of the written agreement from aspirants came just as the party said it would go ahead to hold the December 10 presidential convention/primaries in Lagos despite protest registered by three aspirants, former Vice  President,  Atiku Abubakar, Kano Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso and Imo Governor, Rochas Okorocha.

PDP Rivers aspirants, militants carrying coffins block PDP national secretariat

This Day News

Ripples of the controversy following last Saturday’s congresses that elected the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State House of Assembly candidates continued Wednesday as hell was let loose at the National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) when protesters from the Rivers State chapter of the party stormed the Wadata Plaza national secretariat of the party in protest against perceived injustice meted out to them during the primaries.

The protesters who were mostly aggrieved aspirants and militants started arriving the secretariat as early as 7;30am and had taken over the entire premises even before the arrival of secretariat staff.
The protestants carrying various placards with inscription, "Wike can't be our Governor"; "We want clearance to contest 2015 elections"; "Give us back our money"; "We are tired of two man state exco"; "Felix Obuh must go"; "Wike has bought the soul of River PDP" and "Criminals have been cleared to be PDP aspirants in River State" among others were displayed by the protesters who clustered and sang in front of the party secretariat.
The police looked on as there was the belief that some of the militants were carrying guns and other dangerous weapons.

WORK EXPERIENCE: GLAD TIDINGS TO FRESH GRADUATES

HR TALK WITH MORUF KOLAWOLE, NASIR

Its my pleasure to welcome you to the maiden edition of the HR talk on shadedreflects, it promise to be educative and interactive. The professional that will be talking the talk on HR talk is one of the finest professional in HR field today, Moruf Kolawole, Nasir is an experience HR personnel. Keep it a date with him on every Wednesday on shadedreflects.
It could be very discouraging and disappointing when, after passing through lots of self denials, sacrifices and rigour of university education toacquire the certificates which accompany the university education, opportunities to apply for job with the certificates surfaced and one is
disqualified from applying due to lack of work experience.
The truth, although bitter, is, one cannot really condemn hiring managers for this choice of screening. No one wants to hire a liability, and to a large extent the mere fact that Mr. A has work experience along the line of a job vacancy being advertised is an assurance that Mr. A knows what the job entails. And to hiring managers that reduces the risk of hiring unsuitable hand.
The question fresh graduates never ceased to ask is “where do they expect us to get the work
experience if all of them refused to hire us for lack of work experience?” Here is glad tidings to
you: To start with, jobs that require work experience are mostly categorized into: 1-3 years; 3-5
years; 5-7 sometimes to 10 years and 10 years and above. As entry level applicant you could
attempt the first category and be considered. How? Read on:
Do you know that a good number of fresh graduates who assume that they have no work experience actually have some marketable work experience, even after their service year?
Will it not interest you to know that the time you spent at your uncle’s workshop running ‘errand’ here and there (to enable you earn few naira for T/fare whenever you want to go for job interview or to submit applications) could actually help your CV carry more weight? You also ask how?
Common! You stay in your aunt’s shop whenever school is on long vacation for roughly four years, yet you carry CV with no work experience? Ok! What about this- As an undergraduate, money was not forthcoming from home, to survive you ventured into buying and selling almost throughout your undergraduate days, and you were able to live large on campus with the proceeds yet you circulate CV without work experience?
Brethren! There is no other work experience than these for fresher, other things you could add are your undergraduate stewardship experience. Remember, in your aunt’s shop you were buying things, fixing her generator, changing bulbs, repairing refrigerators, servicing air conditioners etc, trust me those are part of the job description for Admin Officer. If your aunt’s shop was even very big, you oversaw the activities of her sales girls and drivers, seriously you were an Admin Officer in that shop not “assisting my sister” that could even qualify you as front desk officer if you also attended to her
customers. All you need to do is to package your CV well and defend your claims.
What about our undergraduate ‘business man’? Trust me, you have at least three roles put in one, the choice of which to emphasize is yours. You were a marketing executive, an account officer, Logistic personnel etc of your business.
Mind you, I am not encouraging you to lie. What you need most times is the ability to think deep
and not undermine some works you have done in the past, instead, look through your past work experience and find alignment with the one you intend to apply for that demands 1-3 years experience. If after reading this article, you still have no work experience to put in your CV, then it is
time to look out for where to render free service (internship) to put in your CV as your work experience; otherwise, keep applying for your usual graduate trainee or leave your chance to
fate.
Although, I cannot claim ignorance of the fact that some of these adverts require the work experience to be post NYSC, but who says working your CV nicely to fit the job requirement with your pre NYSC experience cannot earn you an interview? Funny enough what most professional hiring managers are interested in is your exposure and skills, your ability to identify those roles/duties in the previous‘ not-too- coordinated’ jobs and bring it to fore by structuring them into your CV and your ability to be able to justifiably prove that you can deliver if assigned those roles/duties.

Soyinka playing the Ostrich:Presidency

Following Prof Wole Soyinka statement that the President of the country, Goodluck Jonathan is like the Babylonian autocrat, King Nebuchadnezzar. Speaking at a media briefing at the Freedom Park in Lagos, with the theme: “King Nebuchadnezzar – the reign of impunity”, Soyinka said Jonathan’s administration had become known for lawlessness. The presidency through the Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, described Prof. Wole  Soyinka’s allegations as ”sad and unfortunate”.

 Soyinka (3)
The Presidency said it had observed that the close relationship between Soyinka and Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi has beclouded Soyinka’s contributions to national discourse.
“Our eminent professor also sadly plays the ostrich as he failed to reprimand Governor Amaechi, who is the ‘national champion of impunity and official recklessness’.
“The administration of President Goodluck Jonathan prides itself as the most liberal, keeping faith with adherence to rule of law and tolerance,”  Okupe added.
He said  Soyinka chose to ignore what he termed the immoral, indefensible and unlawful attitude of House of Representatives Speaker Aminu Tambuwal after his defection.
He accused Soyinka of maligning Inspector General of Police Abba who, he said, only discharged his lawful duties

Tambuwal and PDP in fresh drama

By Nafisat Nasir
The 'defection' drama between the speaker of House of Assembly, Aminu Tambuwal and the People democratic party seems to be heightened every passing day as the PDP filed a new suit seeking an order to compel the speaker to declare himself as no longer fit to represent his constituency.

 www.shadedreflects.blogspot.com
Justice Ahmed Mohammed on Monday granted an ex parte application seeking leave by the PDP to commence its suit against Tambuwal.
The office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives; Tambuwal himself; and the Deputy Speaker, Mr. Emeka Ihedioha, are the respondents in the suit.
The court after granting the leave also ordered the plaintiff to put all the respondents on notice.
The court also directed that the court order and the motion on notice to be filed by the plaintiff should be served on the three respondents.
The PDP, in its fresh suit, maintained that by virtue of section 68(1)(g) of the Constitution, Tambuwal’s defection from the party, which sponsored his election to the House of Representatives, amounted to losing his seat.
The plaintiff contended that under section 68(2) of the Constitution, it was mandatory for Tambuwal, as Speaker of the House of Representatives, to declare as vacant the Kebbe/Tambuwal seat, whose occupant had defected from the party which sponsored him to the House.
They are also seeking an alternative order compelling the Deputy Speaker to declare the seat vacant in the event that Tambuwal fails to do so. The prayers being sought by the PDP in its suit filed on November 24 and marked, FHC/ABJ/CS/901/2014, read, “An order of mandamus compelling the 1st respondent (office of the Speaker) to give effect to the provisions of section 68(1) (g) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) by declaring the Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency seat vacant.
“An order of injunction restraining the 2nd respondent (Tambuwal) from performing or continuing to perform the function of the 1st respondent in the House of Representatives or sitting or continuing to sit in the House of Representatives as a member.
“In the alternative, an order of court compelling the 3rd respondent (Deputy Speaker, Ihedioha) to declare the Kebbe/Tambuwal seat vacant by an order of mandamus in terms of relief (a) supra.”
While moving the ex parte application seeking the court’s leave to commence the suit on Monday, the PDP’s lawyer, Chief Mike Ahamba (SAN), said section 68(1) (g) of the Constitution was not “self-implementing.”
But he added that the provisions must be given its effect by virtue of provision of section 62(2) of the Constitution by compelling Tambuwal to declare the Kebbe/Tambuwal seat vacant.
The matter was adjourned till December 12.
Meanwhile, Tambuwal has petitioned the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, seeking protection in a fresh suit filed against him by a member of the House, Mr. Abidun Akinlade.
The suit, NO. FHC/ABJ/CS/871/2014, has Tambuwal, the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Federal Government, as respondents.
According to Tambuwal, the suit was assigned to Justice E.S.J. Chukwu of Court 8.
In the suit, Akinlade, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, is seeking a “judicial interpretation” of an earlier judgment of the same court, where it held that there was no division in the PDP.
The aim of the fresh suit is to justify the PDP’s stance that the defection of Tambuwal from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress on October 28, was “illegal” and in breach of Section 68(1)(g) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
But in Tambuwal’s petition, dated November 30, he said he had no confidence in Chukwu to treat the case without “bias”, having given a judgment in 2013 that there was no division in the PDP.
He observed that Chukwu’s judgment had been relied upon for subsequent decisions on defections, such as the one by Justice A.F.A. Ademola of the same Federal High Court, who also declared the December 2013 defection of 37 PDP lawmakers to the APC as illegal.
The speaker appealed to the chief judge to re-assign Akinlade’s case to another judge in the spirit of fairness.
Tambuwal, who is a lawyer by training, noted that the new case was like asking Chukwu to “sit on appeal over his own judgment.”
The speaker added that Ademola’s judgment too had elicited “four” appeals still pending at the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division.
Similarly, the speaker said five other cases filed by “various parties” relating to the same issue of defection were before the Federal High Court in Abuja awaiting disposal.
Tambuwal prayed further, “My Lord, my apprehension is particularly in respect of the presiding Judge, Justice Chukwu, ESJ, having made a pronouncement on similar issues, in similar cases, decided by him, clearly shows that he has an iron-cast judicial position or opinion in respect of Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/871/2014, concerning me sir, which has just been assigned to him.”
