The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on
Sunday congratulated Akinwunmi Ambode for emerging the governorship
election flagbearer of the All Progressive Congress, APC.
However, the PDP state chairman, Tunji Shelle, declared victory for the party in the 2015 governorship elections.
This was disclosed in a press release by the party spokesperson, Taofik Gain. The party said it would conduct a free, fair, and credible
governorship primary to elect its flag bearer in the 2015 governorship
election in the state.
It said the aspirants should rest assured that there would be a level
playing field for the process to produce an acceptable result for
everyone.
The party’s state chairman, Mr. Shelle, vowed that the process would be democratic, transparent and divinely guided.
“The primary is to hold on Monday, 8th December, 2014 from 10am,” he
said. “We are expecting close to 900 delegates to participate in an
elective process that we promise must be free, fair and credible. We
will not give room for any hiccup as we know that Lagosians are hoping
on us to take over governance from the ruling APC.
“Indeed at the end of the process, Lagosians will find our choice acceptable to them. We wish the aspirants best of luck.”
According to the party, the list of the governorship aspirants for
the primary has been reduced to six with the formal withdrawal of
Adegbola Dominic.
The others remaining in the contest are: Modupe Chukwuneke, Babatunde
Gbadamosi, Tokunboh Kamson, Adedeji Doherty, Musiliu Obanikoro and
Olujimi Agbaje.
