APC manifesto can change, manifestos are not Quran or Bible, says Buhari

APC Campaign Words and Manifesto are not Words from Quran or Bible, they are subject to Change ---- Buhari

The President-elect Gen. Muhammadu Buhari disclosed that the promises that the All Progressives Congress, APC, made during the nationwide presidential campaign which were contained in the Party’s manifesto were not words from the Quran or Bible, adding that the pledges are subject to change.

Buhari who stated this during an interactive session with journalists on Television Continental, TVC reiterated that the party’s manifestos were subject to modification.

Court halts impeachment move against Fayose

A Federal High Court in Abuja today, set aside all actions and activities of the embattled Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Dr Adewale Omirin and the All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers from November 21, 2014 till date, including the purported commencement of impeachment proceeding and notice alleging misconduct against the Stare Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose and his Deputy, Dr Olusola Eleka.

Justice E. Chukwu gave the ruling on an Exparte Application in Suit Number FHC/ABJ/CS/361/15 filed by the factional Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Dele Olugbemi and six other Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers.

Federal Government sues Senate and House of Rep

The Federal Government has instituted a suit at the Supreme Court to nullify the proposed amendments to the 1999 Constitution.
President Goodluck Jonathan had withheld his assent to the amendments to some sections of the document sent to him by the National Assembly.
In a seven-page letter to the Senate President, David Mark, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, the president queried the decision of the National Assembly to whittle down some executive powers of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He faulted some amendments which gives executive powers and duties to the legislature and the judiciary.

PDP calls for cancellation of Imo Guber election

Three days to the re-run elections on the inconclusive April 11 governorship and House of Assembly polls in Imo State, the state leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday called for outright cancellation of the entire exercise over alleged electoral frauds.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state had declared the election inconclusive and fixed April 25 for the re-run of the poll as a result of electoral violence and malpractices which characterised the elections.

Addressing journalists at the PDP state headquarters, Owerri, the Chairman of the party, Chief Nnamdi Anyaehie, alleged that there were massive frauds orchestrated by INEC officials during the April 11 gubernatorial elections.

Troops kill Boko Haram commander

Director of Defence Information, Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade, has said troops of the Nigerian Army have killed a top Commander of Boko Haram in an encounter with the terrorists on Tuesday morning at the Alagarno Forest.

Olukolade gave the identity of the ‘notorious terrorists commander’ as Abu Mojahid, in a statement on Wednesday.

The Defene spokesman explained that the soldiers had an encounter with the insurgents when they staged a daring attack on troops, who were on patrol in the area.

According to him, the troops killed a number of the terrorists while some rocket propelled grenades and vehicles with mounted anti-aircraft guns were either destroyed or captured in the encounter.

We won't accept any PDP defector again, says APC

The All Progressives Congress on Wednesday formally shut its doors against members of the Peoples Democratic Party wishing to join its ranks.

The party also enjoined members and leaders of the ruling party to stay put where they are and rebuild their party to play its new found role as the main opposition party.

It admonished the PDP to come to terms with the cold, hard reality that its fortunes have since plummeted and that it is now in opposition.

The APC made its position public in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in Abuja.

Corpers arrested for selling ballot papers

Three members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who served as adhoc staff during the April 11 House of Assembly elections are in ‘soup’ for allegedly selling Independent National Electoral, INEC, ballot papers and other materials for N40,000.
State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mike Igini, who disclosed this while reviewing the 2015 polls, said 15,000 workers were used for the conduct of the elections.
Igini said the three NYSC members sold two packets of ballot papers.
He stated that two workers of the commission who could not account for election materials given to them were suspended, adding that investigations had commenced to determine the culpability of the two INEC staffers.
According to him, “The ongoing investigations are to determine whether their act was deliberate or out of sheer negligence. With respect to the NYSC members, they were given ballot papers of which they sold two packets and were nabbed.”
Mike Igini who described their offences as severe said they would be dealt with ruthlessly.
