Amosun returns for second term

APC wins 11 LGs
PDP wins 9

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun on Sunday declared winner of the governorship election held in the state by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.
Amosun who was seeking for re-election in office won 11 local government areas out of 20 LGs with total votes of 306,988 while the major opposition, PDP candidate, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka won 9 local government areas of 20 LGs in the state with total votes of 201,440.
The results, according to the state returning officer, Prof Duro Oni declared as follows: Ewekoro: APC-10735, PDP-3275; Remo North: APC-7365, PDP-6567; Ijebu - Ode: APC-10570, PDP-11381; Odeda: APC-10637, PDP-3633; and Abeokuta North: APC-22740, PDP-6371.‎
Others are Ijebu North East: APC-5992, PDP-6780); Obafemi - Owode: APC-16333, PDP-6637; Abeokuta South: APC- 35,511, PDP-10288; Ikenne: APC-11085, PDP-8686; Ifo: APC-28596, PDP-5818; Imeko: APC-8253, PDP-12412) and Odogbolu: APC-10129, PDP-10430.
However, the APC won in Ado -Odo/Ota with 36,108 votes with PDP polled 13,763; In Yewa South local government,the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP won the area with 12,915 votes while APC polled 10,844 votes.
Meanwhile, the ‎result from Ipokia local government showed that the APC lost the area with just 637 votes. While PDP won with 16,877 votes,APC polled a very close point of 16,240 votes.
The result from Ijebu North which is the stronghold of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP being the hometown of the Ogun East Senator elect,Prince Buruj Kashamu could not salvage the PDP as the points was not too much for the APC.

While PDP polled 18,787, the APC managed to secured a total votes of 14,317 votes. In Remo, Sagamu local government APC defeated the PDP with 18,491 votes to 14,011 votes.
Results from Ogun Waterside local government showed that APC won the area with a very slim margin of 8,468 to PDP 7,400 votes.
From Ijebu East local government area, PDP polled 9,408 votes to defeat APC who garnered 8,980 votes while similar defeat was recorded by APC from Yewa North local government area.
The PDP won the area where the Speaker of the House comes from with 16,001 votes while the APC polled 15,594 votes.
